What isLAROXYL and what is it used for?

LAROXYL is a drug that contains an active substance called amitriptyline. Each dragee contains 10 mg of amitriptyline. Dragees are pastel red in color and odorless.

LAROXYL is available in white opaque bottle packages containing 30 dragees.

LAROXYL belongs to a group of drugs called tricyclic antidepressants. These drugs improve the symptoms of depression by changing the level of chemical substances in the brain.

LAROXYL is used in the treatment of the following conditions;

LAROXYL is used in the relief of symptoms of depression, especially in the treatment of endogenous depression.
3. How to useLAROXYL?

Always take LAROXYL exactly as your doctor has told you. If you are not sure, consult your doctor or pharmacist.

Adults:

The recommended starting dose is one dragee LAROXYL (10 mg or 25 mg) three times a day. If necessary, the dose may be gradually increased until the desired therapeutic response is achieved.

The maintenance dose is usually 2-4 coated tablets LAROXYL (25 mg) per day. The amount to be administered in maintenance therapy can be given in a single dose, preferably in the evening or just before going to bed. In rare cases, the daily dose may need to exceed 150 mg; however, it is sometimes necessary to increase the dose up to 300 mg in hospitalized patients.

LAROXYL should always be initiated at lower doses in elderly patients. The recommended starting dose in elderly patients and in cases of mild depression is 10 mg three times a day. A maintenance dose of 50 mg per day may be sufficient for these patients. For maintenance therapy, the total dose may be given at once and preferably in the evening or just before bedtime. Liver failure: If you have severe liver failure problem, do not use LAROXYL.

Kidney failure: If you have chronic kidney disease, your doctor may change the dose of your medication.

If you have an impression that the effect of LAROXYL is too strong or too weak, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

If you use more LAROXYL than you should

Symptoms of overdose include irregular heartbeat, low blood pressure, dilated pupils, dizziness, drop in body temperature, seizures, coma, agitation, muscle stiffness, nausea and fever. Overdose-related effects are likely to be more severe, especially when taken with alcohol.

If you forgot to use LAROXYL
