1. What is BONVIVA ROCHE and what is it used for?

• BONVIVA is a member of the group of drugs known as bisphosphonates. It does not contain hormones.

BONVIVA is available in pack sizes of 3 film-coated tablets. The tablets are white to whitish in color and oblong.
Bonviva has been prescribed to you for the treatment of osteoporosis because of your increased risk of fractures. Studies have shown a reduction in the risk of spinal fractures, but there are no studies of hip fractures. Osteoporosis is thinning and weakening of the bones that is common in postmenopausal women. At menopause, the female ovaries stop producing the female hormone estrogen, which helps keep the skeletal structure healthy.

The earlier a woman enters menopause, the greater the risk of fractures in osteoporosis. Broken

Other factors that may increase the risk are as follows:

not enough calcium and vitamin D in the diet

smoking or drinking too much alcohol

not walking enough or not doing weight lifting exercise

    family history of osteoporosis

Many people with osteoporosis have no symptoms. If there are no symptoms, you may not know if you have this condition. However, osteoporosis makes your bones more likely to break if you fall or injure yourself. Bone fracture after age 50 may be a sign of osteoporosis. Osteoporosis can also cause back pain, shortening of stature, and hunchback.

BONVIVA prevents bone loss due to osteoporosis and helps bone regeneration. Therefore, BONVIVA reduces the possibility of fracture of the bone.

A healthy lifestyle will also help you get the most out of your treatment.
A healthy lifestyle includes a balanced diet rich in calcium and vitamin D, walking or any other weight-bearing exercise, not smoking and not drinking too much alcohol.
