What is KAPTORIL and what is it used for?
KAPTORIL is available in blister packs containing 10 tablets. Each carton contains 50 tablets.
KAPTORIL contains the active substance of captopril.
Captoril belongs to a group of medicines called "ACE inhibitors" (Angiotensin Converting Enzyme Inhibitors).
Captoril acts by dilating blood vessels.

3.How to use KAPTORIL?

The usual starting dose is 25 mg tablets taken two or three times a day.
If an adequate response is not obtained within two weeks, this dose should be increased to 50 mg 2-3 times a day.
Your doctor may ask you to use a diuretic with KAPTORIL.
Adults with heart failure
The starting dose is usually 6.25 - 12.5 mg tablets administered two or three times a day.
This dose can be increased to a 50 mg tablet administered three times a day.

Swallow KAPTORIL with water. You can take your medicine with or without food.
Different age groups
Use in children
KAPTORIL is not recommended in children for the treatment of high blood pressure. However, your doctor may prescribe a lower dose based on your child's weight.
The starting dose in children is 0.3 mg per kg body weight, and your doctor may change the dose depending on your response to the treatment.
Use in the elderly
The dose you will receive will be determined by your doctor. Also, the dose you will receive will depend on the state of your kidney function.
Special use cases
Kidney / Liver failure:
If you have kidney disease, your doctor may change the amount of KAPTORIL you take according to the status of your kidney function.
If you are on kidney dialysis, the dose you will receive will change daily. Your doctor will tell you the dose you should take.

If you use more KAPTORIL than you should

4. What are the possible side effects?
Like all medicines, people who are sensitive to the substances contained in KAPTORIL may have side effects.
