What is CLONEX and what is it used for?

CLONEX is a drug used in treatment-resistant schizophrenia patients or in patients with schizophrenia who do not respond to or are not tolerated by these drugs.

CLONEX is also used in patients with schizophrenia who are suffering from recurrent suicidal behavior or who are suspected of having a risk of suicidal behavior (schizophrenia or a psychiatric disorder with symptoms of mood swings).

CLONEX is also used in mental illness (psychosis) where the sensation of reality that occurs during Parkinson's disease disappears when standard care fails.

How to use CLONEX?

CLONEX is regulated according to your wishes. The lowest effective dose is used for each patient. During the first 18 weeks of the disease, an annual white blood cell count will be made every 4 weeks.

Application path and method

For oral administration the following dosage scheme is recommended:

Treatment-resistant schizophrenia patients

Initial treatment: 1 or 2 tablets of 25 mg on the first day and 25 mg of tablets 1 or 2 times on the second day. If this tolerance is favorable, the daily dose is increased slowly from 25 mg to 50 mg to reach 300 mg per day in 2-3 weeks. Thereafter, if necessary, increases of 50 mg to 100 mg may be made between the daily dose, half-weekly or preferably weekly intervals.

Use in children

The use of Clonex in children under 16 years is not recommended due to insufficient data on safety and efficacy.

Use in the elderly

It is recommended that the treatment be started initially with low doses (12.5 mg one time on the first day) and limit the subsequent dose increase to 25 mg per day.

Special use cases

It should not be used in cases of severe liver, kidney and heart failure. Patients who have previously had permanent liver impairment may use Clonex, but regular liver tests are required.

Things to watch out for before using CLONEX
Do NOT use CLONEX in the following situations

Use CLONEX CAREFULLY in the following situations

During the use of Clonex, there is the possibility of a subsequent reduction in white blood cells that may result in complete disappearance. For this reason, your physician will ask you regularly to have a white blood cell (white blood cell) count.

Liver tests should be performed in patients with evidence of possible liver impairment such as nausea, vomiting and / or loss of appetite during Clonex treatment. Depending on the test results or if there is a jaundice, the Clonex treatment should be discontinued. Treatment should be continued only when the liver tests are normalized. • Prostate enlargement or some eye diseases require special care.

• Clonex treatment can be accompanied by various severity of disorders ranging from cavitary to bowel obstruction in bowel movements. These rarely result in death. Particular attention should be given to patients who have received medications known to cause constipation, who have undergone a lower abdominal operation that may exacerbate or develop a large bowel condition in the past. It is very important to diagnose constipation immediately and to treat it effectively.

• During treatment with clonex, severe blood sugar elevation has been reported rarely, sometimes coma leading to patients who have not previously had high blood sugar levels. It should be remembered that patients with clozapine are at increased risk of diabetes when symptoms include frequent eating, frequent drinking and frequent urination or weakness.
