1. What is DEMAX (Generic Namenda) and what is it used for?

DEMAX (Generic Namenda) is in the form of round tablets of white or whitish color, orally disintegrating. It is offered to the market in blister packs of 50 or 100 tablets, and each tablet contains 10 mg of memantine HCl as an active ingredient.

DEMAX (Generic Namenda) is in the group of drugs used against dementia.

The memory loss seen in Alzheimer's disease occurs due to disruption of message signals in the brain. There are N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptors in the brain, which are responsible for transmitting nerve signals that are important in learning and memory. DEMAX (Generic Namenda) belongs to a group of drugs called NMDA receptor antagonists and improves nerve impulse and memory by acting on NMDA receptors. Due to this effect, DEMAX (Generic Namenda) is used in the treatment of moderate and severe Alzheimer's disease.
