What is ENALAPRIL and what is it used for?

    ENALAPRIL is a member of the drug class called angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors (ACE inhibitors).
    ENALAPRIL are round, flat white with rounded edges, notched on one side. Each tablet contains 5 mg of enalapril maleate. It is available in packages of 20 tablets.

    ENALAPRIL is used in the following situations:
    High blood pressure (hypertension) treatment
    Treatment of heart function weakness (symptomatic heart failure)
    Prevention of weakness in heart function (symptomatic heart failure)

    In many patients with symptoms of heart failure, ENALAPRIL slows down the worsening of heart failure, reduces the need to go to the hospital for heart failure, and helps some patients live longer.

    In many patients in the early stages of heart failure prior to the development of symptoms, ENALAPRIL can prevent deterioration of heart function and symptoms (e.g., shortness of breath,

3. How to use ENALAPRIL?

Your doctor will determine the appropriate ENALAPRIL dose for you based on your condition and other medicines you use.

High Blood Pressure

The recommended starting dose for most patients is between 5 and 20 mg once a day. Some patients may require a lower starting dose. For long-term use, the dose is usually 20 mg once a day.

Heart failure

Usually the recommended starting dose is 2.5 mg once a day. Your doctor will gradually increase this dose until the correct dose for you is reached. For long-term use, the dose is usually 20 mg taken once or twice a day.

You should be especially careful when you take the first dose or when your dose is increased. If you feel dizzy or lightheaded, tell your doctor immediately.
Application route and method

ENALAPRIL is for oral use only.

You can use ENALAPRIL before or after meals.

Swallow the tablet whole with 1 glass of water.

Kidney failure:

4. What are the possible side effects?

Like all medicines, there may be side effects in people who are sensitive to the substances contained in ENALAPRIL.

If any of the following occur, stop using ENALAPRIL and IMMEDIATELY inform your doctor or go to the nearest emergency department.
Swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat, which can cause difficulty in breathing and swallowing.
Swelling in the hands, feet, or ankles
Hives

These are all very serious side effects.

If you have one of these, it means you have a serious allergy to ENALAPRIL. You may need urgent medical attention or hospitalization.
If you notice any of the following, immediately report to your doctor or contact the emergency department of your nearest hospital:
If you experience severe dizziness and lightheadedness, especially at the start of treatment or when the dose is increased or when you stand up.
