indications
glibenclamide (Glyburide,Diabeta,Glycron, Glynase) Tablet is used together with diet in the treatment of non-insulin dependent diabetes (Type II diabetes), when diet alone is not sufficient.
contraindication
· Hypersensitivity to glibenclamide · Type I diabetes · Diabetic ketoacidosis with or without coma. (This condition should be treated with insulin.)
warnings
It cannot be used together with alcohol, phenyl butazone, chloramphenicol, rifampin, propranolol and MAO inhibitors.
side effects
Side effects such as gastrointestinal complaints and allergic skin reactions may occur.
interaction
It can be in two forms: A- Drugs that may cause hypoglycemia by potentiating its effect when taken together with Glazid Tablet: - Miconazole (oral form) - Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as salicylates, pyrazole derivatives, phenibutazone - Sulfonamides - Coumarin group oral anticoagulant - MAO inhibitors - Beta-adrenergic blocking drugs - Diazepam - Tetracyclines - Chloramlenicol - Disopyramide - Cimetidine and alcohol use increase the effect of Glazid. B- Drugs that may cause hypoglycemia by reducing its effect when taken together with Glazid: - Corticosteroids - Oral contraceptives - Tlazide diuretics - Fanotlazine derivatives - Barburates - Thyroid hormones
