1. What is ISORDIL (Generic Dilatrate) and what is it used for?
ISORDIL (Generic Dilatrate) is a vasodilating drug containing isosorbide dinitrate, which is included in a group of drugs called vasodilating organic nitrates and used in heart diseases.
ISORDIL (Generic Dilatrate) tablet is in the form of a round, straight-sided white tablet with a notch on one side and “Ayerst” on the other side, and there are 50 tablets in the package.
ISORDIL (Generic Dilatrate) relaxes the blood vessels, reduces the work force of the heart and helps the heart to pump blood more easily. In addition, the amount of oxygen required by the heart is also reduced. Since it also widens the blood vessels that feed the heart, the amount of blood and oxygen offered to the heart also increases.
ISORDIL (Generic Dilatrate) 10 mg tablet,
• In the prevention of sudden chest pain (angina pectoris) caused by the heart's inability to receive enough oxygen due to coronary heart disease,
• It is used together with other drugs [glycoside (used in heart failure), diuretic (diuretic) and arterial vasodilators (vasodilators)] in heart failure, a disease in which the heart's blood pumping power is reduced.
2. How to use ISORDIL (Generic Dilatrate)?
Instructions for proper use and dose/frequency of administration
It is very important that you take ISORDIL (Generic Dilatrate) exactly as prescribed by your doctor. If you don't take it properly, your medicine will gradually become less effective and you will be more likely to not benefit.
If you are not using ISORDIL (Generic Dilatrate) for the treatment of your chest pain due to insufficient blood supply to your heart, you usually start treatment with 5-20 mg of ISORDIL and take 10-40 mg 4 times a day (every 6 hours).
If you are not using ISORDIL (Generic Dilatrate) for the treatment of the heart's pumping power, start the treatment with 20 mg 3-4 times a day and increase the dose to a total of 120-160 mg per day according to your doctor's recommendation.
In order for the effect of ISORDIL (Generic Dilatrate) not to decrease in continuous use, we should leave 14 hours or more between two doses (for example, if we use ISORDIL 3 times a day, the first dose is at 8.00 in the morning, the second dose is at 14.00 and the last dose is at 18.00. We take it too, so the time between the last dose we take in the evening and the first dose we take the next morning will be 14 hours).
