Each long-acting film-coated tablet contains 5 mg felodipine.

Excipients

Dyestuff: Red-brown iron oxide (E172, yellow iron oxide (E172), titanium dioxide (E171)

Other excipients: Carnauba wax, hydroxypropyl cellulose, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose 50 cps, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose 10.000 cps, lactose anhydrous, microcrystalline cellulose, polyethylene glycol 6000, polyoxyl 40 hydrogenated castor oil, sodium aluminum silicate, sodium stearyl fumarate, propyl gallate purified water, hydrogen peroxide 30%.
2. What is PLENDIL and what is it used for?

PLENDIL contains 5 mg of felodipine as an active ingredient. Each box contains 20 film-coated tablets. Each film-coated tablet is in the form of pink, round tablets with A / Fm on one side and 5 on the other.

Long-acting film tablets control the dose of the drug administered to the body and provide an effect throughout the day.

PLENDIL belongs to the group of drugs called calcium antagonists. It lowers blood pressure by dilating small vessels. It has no negative effect on heart functions.

PLENDIL is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and chest pain (angina pectoris), for example, caused by exercise and stress.

PLENDIL is an approved drug for use in the treatments listed above. Your doctor may prescribe PLENDIL for another use. If this happens, follow your doctor's advice. Consult your doctor for more information.
3.How to use PLENDIL?
Instructions for appropriate use and dose / frequency of administration

Your doctor will determine the dose you should take. If you want to take full advantage of this medication, use the dose prescribed by your doctor.

Application route and method

Take PLENDIL long acting tablets in the morning with a little water. Do not split, crush or chew the tablets. The tablets can be taken with a light meal (eg breakfast) or on an empty stomach. If your doctor does not recommend otherwise, use PLENDIL as follows:

Hypertension:

Treatment should be started with 5 mg per day. If necessary, your doctor may increase the dose or add another blood pressure lowering (antihypertensive) drug to the treatment. The long-term treatment dose is 5-10 mg once a day. The starting dose for elderly patients is 2.5 mg.

Angina pectoris:

The treatment should be started with 5 mg a day, and if necessary, your doctor may increase the dose to 10 mg per day.

Kidney Failure / Liver Failure

Renal dysfunction does not affect the plasma concentration of felodipine. No dose adjustment is required. PLENDIL should be used with caution in patients with severe renal impairment.
4. What are the possible side effects?

Like all medicines, people who are sensitive to the substances contained in PLENDIL may have side effects.

The following side effects may occur as a result of using PLENDIL:

If any of the following occur, stop using PLENDIL and IMMEDIATELY inform your doctor or contact the emergency department of the nearest hospital (these are also described below):

Sparse (<1/1000)

Rarely, the following side effects have been reported; however, in most cases it has not been found to be associated with felodipine therapy.

    Vomiting,
    Fainting due to low blood pressure,

    Very rare (<1/10000)
    Low blood pressure seen with the contraction of the heart and the acceleration of the heartbeat,

    Inflammation of the vessels due to the breakdown of white blood cells (leukocytoclastic vasculitis),
    High blood sugar,

    • Sensitivity to light,
    Angioedema (swelling of the face and throat as a result of allergies) with swelling of the lips and tongue

    Hypersensitivity reactions,

    • Increase in liver enzymes,

    If you have one of these, you may need urgent medical attention or hospitalization.

    All of these very serious side effects are very rare.
