2. What is STRATTERA and what is it used for?

STRATTERA capsules are opaque blue cap and gold (body) in color, with "Lilly 3239" on the capsule cap and "60 mg" black ink imprint on the body. Each box contains 28 capsules.

STRATTERA contains atomoxetine, which increases the amount of noradrenaline in the brain. This substance is a chemical produced naturally in the brain that increases attention and reduces impulsivity and overactivity in patients with ADHD. This medication has been prescribed to control ADHD symptoms. STRATTERA has not been shown to be addictive.

STRATTERA is a non-stimulant drug used in the treatment of Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in children aged 6 and over, and as part of a wider treatment program that includes psychological, educational and social measures in adolescents. It may take a few weeks to recover.

It may be appropriate for people who started treatment at a young age to continue using STRATTERA even when they become adults. Your specialist doctor will advise you on this issue.
3. How to use STRATTERA?
Instructions for proper use and dose / frequency of administration

Always use STRATTERA as recommended by your doctor. This is usually 1 or 2 capsules a day taken in the morning and late afternoon or in the evening.

Your doctor will tell you how much STRATTERA you should use by calculating based on your weight. Your doctor will normally start you on a lower dose before increasing the dose of STRATTERA according to the instructions below:

Children and adolescents aged 6 and over:

- Body weight up to 70 kg: STRATTERA should be started at a total daily dose of approximately 0.5 mg / kg body weight and this dose should be continued for at least 7 days. Your doctor may then increase this to a continuation dose of about 1.2 mg / kg body weight per day.

- Body weight over 70 kg: STRATTERA should be started at a daily dose of 40 mg and this dose should be continued for at least 7 days. Your doctor may then increase this to a continuation dose of 80 mg per day. The highest dose that your doctor can prescribe for you per day is 100 mg.

A child using STRATTERA may lose some weight after starting treatment. Your doctor will keep track of your child's height and weight. If your child is not growing as expected and gaining weight, your doctor may change the dose your child will use or stop using STRATTERA for a while.
