TERRAMYCIN skin ointment is applied locally to the skin.

Active ingredient
Each 1 gram ointment contains oxytetracycline hydrochloride equivalent to 30 mg oxytetracycline and polymyxin B sulfate equivalent to 10,000 units of polymyxin B.

What is TERRAMYCIN and what is it used for?

TERRAMYCIN is available in 14.2 g tubes. It contains crystal oxytetracycline hydrochloride and polymyxin B sulfate in suspension in a special petroleum jelly base.

TERRAMYCIN is a soft, yellow homogeneous ointment.

TERRAMYCIN belongs to a group of drugs known as other antibiotics used locally (topically).

TERRAMYCIN is used in the protection and local treatment of local skin infections (inflammatory microbial disease) such as inflamed skin (pyoderma) caused by sensitive microorganisms, a type of skin disease consisting of inflamed skin blisters (pustular dermatitis) and small infected wounds and burns.
3.How to use TERRAMYCIN?
Instructions for proper use and dose / frequency of administration

Unless recommended otherwise by your doctor, apply the ointment placed on a sterile gauze to the sick area at least 2-3 times a day after thoroughly cleansing your skin. Leave the ointment in constant contact with the patient surface. The duration of your treatment depends on the severity and type of infection and can range from a few days to a few weeks. If your treatment is discontinued early, the disease-causing organism will reproduce, so continue the treatment until complete recovery.

Do not take a double dose to make up for forgotten doses.
4. What are the possible side effects?

Like all medicines, there may be side effects in people who are sensitive to the ingredients of TERRAMYCIN.

Local oxytetracycline is a low toxicity antibiotic. Allergic reactions, including contact-related skin disease (contact dermatitis) due to personal hypersensitivity have been rarely reported. If such reactions occur, oxytetracycline therapy should be discontinued.

2.Things to watch out for before using TERRAMYCIN
DO NOT USE TERRAMYCIN in the following situations

If,

• Hypersensitivity to the ingredients of TERRAMYCIN (allergic reactions including contact dermatitis) due to hypersensitivity to the person, which is rarely reported.

USE TERRAMYCIN CAREFULLY in the following situations

If,

• If new infections due to non-susceptible bacteria or fungi occur during the treatment, use it carefully. To prevent this, your doctor will constantly observe you and make the necessary examinations.

• If the systemic application of this drug affects the whole body, if there is a delay in skeletal development, permanent discoloration of the teeth and insufficient growth of tooth enamel, use it carefully. This should be taken into account during tooth development (if you are in the last half of pregnancy or if the patient is less than 8 years old). Although it is not possible for these effects to occur due to the low doses used in topical tetracycline administration, such a possibility should also be considered.

If the skin infection is severe or tends to develop into a (systemic) infection that affects the whole body. Your TERRAMYCIN skin ointment treatment will be supported by a systemic treatment that affects the whole body.

It is used externally and is intended to be applied only to the skin.

Pregnancy

There are no controlled studies on the use of TERRAMYCIN in pregnant women.

Systemic use of tetracyclines, an antibiotic group, in pregnant women has resulted in delayed fetal skeletal development and bone growth. However, local tetracyclines should only be used during pregnancy when the potential benefits outweigh the possible risks.
