More info

What is VOLTAREN and what is it used for?

Each tablet contains active ingredient (diclofenac sodium).
VOLTAREN is part of a group of drugs called "non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs" (NSAIDs) used in the treatment of pain and inflammation.
It is available in 30 and 60 tablet packages.

VOLTAREN can be used in the treatment of the following disorders:

Treatment of signs and symptoms of painful progressive rheumatism (ankylosing spondylitis) with calcification (osteoarthritis), rheumatoid arthritis with joint pain and deformity, pain and deformity in juvenile joints (juvenile rheumatoid arthritis) and hardening in the back, neck and thoracic joints, gout-related joint inflammation (acute gouty arthritis), acute musculoskeletal pain, postoperative pain (postoperative pain), and painful menstrual dysmenorrhoea.

How to use VOLTAREN?

Follow your doctor's instructions carefully. Do not exceed the recommended dose and duration of treatment.
Instructions for proper use and dose / application frequency

You do not exceed the recommended dose. It is important that you use the lowest dose that can control your pain and that you do not take VOLTAREN for as long as necessary.

Your doctor will tell you exactly how many VOLTAREN you will get. Your doctor may recommend a higher or lower dose depending on what you give to the treatment.

In adults:

The recommended starting daily dose is 100-150 mg. In lighter cases, as with prolonged treatment, it is usually sufficient to administer 75-100 mg VOLTAREN per day. Do not exceed 150 mg per day. The daily dose should be divided by 2-3. Treatment with daytime tablets to prevent nighttime pain and morning stiffness can be supplemented with a suppository applied at night (such as a total daily dose of tablets and suppositories of up to 150 mg).

During periods of painful menstruation, treatment with a dose of 50 to 100 mg is started with the symptoms being felt. If necessary, 3 doses per day are continued with 50 mg. Do not exceed 150 mg per day.
Application path and method

VOLTAREN should be swallowed as a whole with a glass of water or another liquid. It is recommended that VOLTAREN be taken before meals or on an empty stomach. Do not divide or chew the tablets.
Use in children and adolescents:
VOLTAREN should not be given to children less than 12 months old.
VOLTARINE should be given to children and adolescents over 1 year of age in doses of 0.5-2 mg / kg, 2-3 divided per day depending on the severity of the disease. Do not exceed 150 mg per day. (Example: A child weighing 20 kg should use a daily dose of 10 to 40 mg.)
For treatment of juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, the daily dose may be increased up to a maximum of 3 mg / kg in divided doses.
Aging use:

Elderly patients may be more susceptible to VOLTAREN's effects than other adults. For this reason, the elderly should pay particular attention to follow the doctor's instructions and use the minimum number of tablets needed to alleviate complaints. It is extremely important that older patients report their undesirable effects immediately to their physician.
Kidney failure:

Use in the elderly

Liver failure:

VOLTAREN should not be used in patients with hepatic insufficiency. Since there are no studies in patients with hepatic insufficiency, recommendations on dose adjustment can not be made. Your doctor will alert you to the careful administration of VOLTAREN if you have mild to moderate hepatic insufficiency. Please consult your doctor.

If you have an impression that the effect of VOLTAREN is too strong or weak, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
If you use more VOLTAREN than you need

If you accidentally received more tablets than your doctor told you to do, contact your doctor or pharmacist immediately, or contact a hospital's emergency department. You may need medical attention.

If you use VOLTAREN, you should talk to a doctor or pharmacist.
If you forgot to use VOLTAREN

Do not take double doses to compensate for forgotten doses.
