What is 2.Danazol and what is it used for?



Danazol contains danazol as an active ingredient. DANASIN changes the effects of some hormones in your body.

Danazol is presented in packages of 100 capsules in colored glass bottles.

Danazol is used in the treatment of the following diseases:

    Endometriosis: The cell layer of the endometrium in the uterus is located in an area other than the uterus.
    Fibrocystic disease: Non-malignant breast cysts that can be painful.
    Non-organic menorrhagia: Prolongation of menstrual bleeding.
    Premenstrual Syndrome: Mental or physical problems and tensions that start about 1 week before menstruation in the premenstrual period.
    Thinning of the endometrium before hysteroscopic endometrial ablation: Thinning the layer before removing the endometrium layer covering the inside of the uterus with a special surgical imaging called an endoscope.
    Primary gynecomastia: Feminine breast enlargement in men.
    Puberty precox: Early onset of puberty.
    Hereditary Angioedema: It is a rare genetic disease that usually does not accompany pain and progresses with recurrent and transient attacks of swelling.


How to use Danazol ?

Instructions for proper use and dose / frequency of administration

Your doctor will determine the dose of your medicine depending on your illness and will apply it to you.

The standard dose of Danazol depends on the need of the patient and the condition of the disease.
Endometriosis: 200-800 mg daily for 3-6 months
Fibrocystic disease: 100-400 mg daily for 4-6 months
Non-organic Menorrhagia and Premenstrual Syndrome: 200 mg daily for 3 months
Hereditary angioedema: 400 - 600 mg daily for 1-3 months
Preoperative thinning of the endometrium: 400-800 mg daily for 3-6 weeks
Puberty Precox: The daily dose is 100-400 mg depending on the age and clinical response of the patient.
Application route and method

Danazol capsules should be swallowed whole with 1 glass of water. Make sure you are not pregnant before you start using Danazol . Capsules should be started on the first day of the menstrual period. Use a reliable method of contraception (such as an intrauterine device or barrier method with contraceptive foam or jelly).

Contraceptive pills should not be used until the treatment with Danazol is finished.

If you have the impression that the effect of DANASIN is too strong or weak, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

Special use cases

Kidney / liver failure:

The use of Danazol is not recommended in patients with severe renal and hepatic impairment. The normal dose is recommended for patients with mild to moderate renal and hepatic impairment. Monitoring of kidney and liver function is recommended.

If you have the impression that the effect of Danazol is too strong or weak, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
If you use more Danazol than you should

If you have used Danazol more than you should, consult a doctor together with the medicine you use.

If you forgot to use Danazol

If you forget to take a dose of Danazol you should take, take your dose as soon as you remember. However, skip the missed dose if it is almost time for the next dose.

Do not take a double dose to make up for forgotten doses.
Effects that may occur when treatment with Danazol is terminated

Do not stop using Danazol without consulting your doctor. Because your illness may get worse.

Blood tests

Your doctor may order regular blood tests to see if the liver is working properly and to check blood levels. Also, using Danazol may affect the results of some blood tests. These tests are as follows.
Hormone testosterone levels
Liver and thyroid function
Lipids (fats), sugars and protein levels in the blood
Serious allergic reactions: rash, trouble swallowing or breathing, swelling of the face, lips, throat or tongue.
Pain or tightness in the chest, jaw, or arm: These could be signs of a heart attack.

These are all very serious side effects.

If you have one of these, it means you have a serious allergy to Danazol . You may need urgent medical attention or hospitalization.

Common: less than one in 10 patients, but more than one in 100 patients.
